Ask AI is Live šŸš€

Hi @FloAPI - I am just surprised about lack of communication. I can understand if it is a business case, but communications to legacy users would be a huge help. That way we can make our business decisions as well. Softr, being a small business, should understand the stress and pain of launching a business and this is all a little more surprising. But in the end if they do the math and feel they need to raise prices or truncate legacy users and plans that is fine, just out of gratitude it would be nice to at least let us know so we can operate and weigh all our options.

For my case specifically, I upgraded to the business plan which was an extra 130 USD a month. Ive been on this plan for at least 12 months thinking it was a wise investment so I can continue to benefit with new plan offerings. I am bootstrapping it, and the extra USD 1500+ I have paid in plan upgrades fees could have easily gone to another part of the business.

increasing the rate is something that can be understood for new subscribers or offer an advantage for existing or loyal customers.

What I don’t understand at all, the lack of communication.

But especially the absurdity of paying $140 per month more than some but not being able to access features in workflows…

Given the arguments I was given, I realize that we are facing a wall with Softr on the subject and it really disgusts me.

We hear you all. We’re continuing to discuss internally what can be done to further support our legacy users who have supported us for so long.

TLDR: Legacy customers get full access to the Softr Databases/Workflows/AI products.

Thanks everyone, for bringing up your concerns and sharing your feedback.

We have always valued our loyal customers who joined Softr early and have continued to grow with us over the past years. We have always appreciated and listened to your feedback and feature requests, and we have tried to balance our ambitious roadmap with day-to-day improvements and existing feature enhancements.

Our vision has always been to make software building accessible and easy for anyone, and to be the best platform for creating business software. This means that while we have heavily focused on app building and data source enhancements, expanding from interface building to full-stack capabilities in Softr is equally crucial to achieving our long-term vision. 70%+ of new users who signed up with a business use case in mind couldn’t leverage Softr because they didn’t have an external, structured database or couldn’t build one with Softr. Now, with full-stack capabilities, we can fully serve those customers too.

Softr has evolved tremendously over the past year, introducing two new products that let anyone build their custom software solely within Softr. The value the platform offers currently is not comparable to what it was a year or two ago.

Most of our existing early customers came to Softr to build frontend interfaces on top of 3rd-party data sources—and while the app-building capabilities have continued to improve, we’ve never restricted features for customers on legacy plans.

As Softr Databases and Workflows are new products, we initially limited them to new plans, since most legacy customers already have dedicated data sources and automation tools. However, over time, we learned that many of you want to move to Softr Databases & Workflows, and we’re definitely happy to make it easier.

So we have decided to match the plan features and extend the usage limits for Softr Databases, Workflows, and AI credits on legacy plans to the corresponding limits in the new plans. This change will also include the ability to buy additional AI Credits to make your apps smarter and more powerful with AI.

Example:

An old Professional plan will have these adjustments:

  • Workflows: 500/month action executions → 10,000/month action executions
  • No access to the Workflow Webhook & API actions → has access to those
  • Databases: 1000 records per database → 50,000 records per database
  • AI credits: 500/month → 5000/month + can buy an add-on

These changes will be rolled out in the next 2 weeks.

@mariam, for clarification, will the rest of our legacy plan features and limits remain how they were?

@Ben Yes, any previous features and older limits (like # of users) remain the same, and in addition, you get the new limits of DBs, Workflows, and AI Credits.

So TLDR, legacy customers have had the most generous limits, and it just got better.

@Mariam You guys need to get better, MUCH better with communicating any changes being made.

Most of the talk surrounding the legacy plan issues, and requirements to upgrade were spawned by my posting in this thread 29-30 days ago. Over that time frame, I held off on doing anything, thinking for sure SOFTR would do something. And then you didn’t.

So I upgraded my plan to the current plan, and NOW you post that I di not have to do that? I could have stayed on the Legacy plan I was on?

Communication is key to any business, and it is extremely lacking between SOFTR and their clientele.

@Lockdown155 I agree with your sentiment, but I think it was spawned earlier this year

Well noted.

The issue with all of this, we as users of a SAAS should not be treated as hostages, we should be treated as the lifeblood of the SAAS, and to me, how a lot of what has transpired here is exactly that, users being treated as hostages to a service, with no communication and no options but to upgrade to continue using features that get released.

When @Ben made his posts, SOFTR should have immediately made it a priority to resolve and address the up-charging of loyal users for features that should have been included.

Instead nothing happened.

Then my posts were made, and again, nothing happened, other than making the exact details of the issue public, in this public community forum. It took weeks for SOFTR to act, when they could have acted immediately (again), and not only that, releasing new features, and then billing for them the way they did, should never have happened in the first place, period.

Unfortunately, most of my posts here in the community have been negative, and to be honest that doesn’t make me feel good because SOFTR is a product that works, and has tremendous benefits for my business, and I know for many others.

@Mariam I truly hope you read this, please take this advice, from one business owner to another. Customers are the lifeblood of your operation, without them you have no operation. Breeding resentment by choosing to force existing users to pay more for this, upgrade their plan to that, without clearly communicating the reasons why, and without considering loyalty at all ((Legacy anyone…), is what makes those users leave (in the SAAS world I think they call that churn), maybe not today, maybe not tomorrow, but as soon as a competitor has an option that mimics what you have, boom, there goes the customer. Not good for the future of SOFTR.

Send a message in the support chat, we are happy to downgrade your plan to the legacy one, with still access to the DBs and Workflows product.

Hi @Jjenglert - by chance do you have a new ETA for when Ask AI will be available with Airtable?
