🚀 Softr Databases are here!

I’m so excited to share that Softr Databases are now live to everyone! They deliver lightning-fast performance and zero sync delays, so you can build full-stack apps in one platform.

Learn more: Softr Databases - Build databases to power your apps

Why this is a big deal

This launch is a major step forward for Softr because you no longer need an external data source to build apps. You’ll get stronger security, higher performance, and a smoother building experience inside your apps—and if you simply need a relational database with an easy-to-use interface, Softr Databases can be used as a standalone product, too.

Join our live launch session

On Monday, June 23 at 11AM ET, we’ll demo key features of Softr Databases, preview the roadmap, and take your questions live.

Hi @Mariam. As a Softr creator since 2020, already paying thousands of dollars a year on the business plan, what is your justification for up-charging loyal Softr customers for this feature? We were under the impression that it would be included with corresponding limits and features of our current plans:

Hi @Ben - thanks for sticking with Softr since 2020! Your current legacy plan keeps all the same features and price—nothing changes there.

Softr Databases is a brand-new backend we’ve built from the ground up. It lives on its own infrastructure, gives you instant writes, relational tables, and zero-sync delays, and—frankly—something we’ve heavily invested in. That’s why it sits outside legacy plans.

You can still try Softr Databases under the Free plan limits at no extra cost. An upgrade is only needed if you want the higher limits and pro features. Otherwise, feel free to keep using your existing plan as usual.

Hope that clears things up, and I’m happy to dive deeper if you have more questions!

Started playing with the Databases beta a week or so ago. This could help eliminate the API limits from SmartSuite (although Softr Databases isn’t as powerful, yet!) One thing missing (or that I don’t see) is the ability to export data. Wondering if this is on the roadmap and the timing. Also wondering if you have plans to provide an option to host the data in different countries - Canada specifically. Looking forward to what comes next (Workflows?)

Hi @TobyMacLeod welcome to our community and thanks for your support!

I’m sure export data will be coming, and our engineers could probably do this for you in the time being if anything ever comes up.

For hosting in different areas, we plan on allowing but under our enterprise plan at the moment.

Still, lots of things are new so we’re listening to everyones feedback and will take it from there!

I tested on a small amount of data, but when we went to actually fully use the database feature today, after upgrading to the new version of the business plan, I ran into a roadblock. If a CSV file has more than 1,000 records it fails to import. Is that by design? If so, that is a really low limit.

To clarify, the file in question has 8 columns. Importing a file with 8 columns and 999 rows worked fine. Imports where the row count was over 1,000 failed with a message to contact support, which I have. Waiting on a response but thought I’d post here too because I’m curious about other users experience.

Follow Up: I just saw a new message pop up that says “You have reached 90% of your plan limit. Upgrade now to keep building without interruptions.” The limit is 1,000 so it looks like while I paid for an upgrade my account wasn’t actually upgraded.

@tglatt indeed it was a limit issue checking your plan now

We should be on a business plan.

Further to @tglatt’s point about importing limitations, it would be nice to be able to import data to an existing table (and map fields). Is this on the roadmap?

@tglatt hang in there with us while we confirm limits are working for the right pricing plan. Might be best to open a support ticket so they can look at your account to confirm what’s going on.

@TobyMacLeod yes, we’re working on improving our import so it adds to existing table as well.

@Jjenglert Thanks. I have an open ticket.

@tglatt can you pls try again ?

I did - and sent a note back to Syuzanna in chat. Running into the same limit issue.

Should be fixed now

How long until the Data Synchronizer is here? I have AI automations via n8n and make.com that add new airtable records. I have to always refresh the page to see the new airtable updates. It’ll be good if the data sync with airtable and Softr databases comes out so the updates can be live for my clients.

The ability to send a notification to a user when a new record is created would be good as well.

What is the timing for ensuring all blocks work with Softr’s Databases? Example: my Softer Database is not a Source option for the Calendar block. I’ve noticed this for a few other blocks as well. This really limits Softr’s native feature functionality.

I had chat contact with Softr contact this week, and they indicated:

2-3weeks (to) finish working on Airtable and add data synchroniser
