Congratulations on the launch.
Quick questions -
I am working with Airtable at the moment. All my users data and all the dymanic content linked to user fields is in Airtable
How do I transition these users over to softr database without interrupting?
How can I Flip the switch from Airtable to Softr Databases?
If i just copy paste a users data over to softr, would that work?
Or do use softr only for new user and old users have to stay back in Airtable?
Is there a documentation on this?
How will it impact the userās expereince? Would they have to login or adjust password again?
Also is there a extended roadmap for Databases?
Something that explains what other things we can expect and by when?
Like I have some airtable automation at the moment. Since softr databases donāt have it yet, so I canāt completely move i guess. So would be nice to see a detailed roadmap.
Without Automation, I canāt completely ditch Airtable at the moment.
I am on Airtable monthly billing plan. Now since softr have launched databases, i would prefer to move over as quickly as possible instead of buying Airtable annual subscription and getting locked in for a year.
Can you provide an ETA on the REST API for importing data into Softr DBs? This blocks a lot of folks that use automation flows, webhooks, etc. If I understand right now you can only do CRUD through a Softr UI. Is that correct?
Iām starting to think about work arounds like:
Create a form and make it public, use the HTTP Request in n8n to post to the form
Browser Automation to navigate to a form and submit
Use n8n to send data to a Google Sheet or Airtable and then perform some type of sync
@mariam and @artur. The reasons JJ listed are actually reasons why the new Softr Database limits and pro features should be included in legacy plans. Legacy customers have requested and literally waited years for these and other essential features (i.e. conditional forms, email changing, email authentication, improved security, data synchronization,ā¦), while also investing significantly in Softr over this time.
In consideration of these reasons, and many others, please include the new database limits and features for corresponding legacy plans.
Iād recommend waiting until our Airtable import launches. Weāre very close, and Iāve seen this thing in action, and itās like Magic. In just a few clicks, your airtable database is in Softr with all of itās connected records and all.
@Jjenglert I just realized I was using the old Calendar block. I did get it working with the new Calendar blocks. Is there a timeframe for when outdated blocks will be updated? Examples - Summary card block, Map blocks, Inbox block and Kanban block donāt show Softrās Databases as an option. Thanks!
Seems interesting to have Softr Databases, I will try it out, but a question beforehand.
I worked with full-stack NoCode platforms before of which database was also MySQL, but when the number of records increase like +100K records, performance went down.
Therefore I do favour Xano or Supabase as backend, how does Softr tables compare to those, what max limit can it take?
Also some SQL features like joins, views and (bulk)transactions (like bulk delete) or truncate tables were missing in platforms I used before. Are these features available in Softr tables?
Hi @FJPH - While Softr Databases is a relational database I do not believe it has the features you have mentioned. There are certainly advantages to using a database solution like Xano or Supabase. I will say, Iāve been testing Softr with both SmartSuite and Softr Databases and Softer Databases wins hands down in terms of speed and no API limits.
A quick question. Is it just me being dense (quite likely) or is there currently no version history (even an āundoā feature) or any way to back up the database? If things are deleted accidentally theyāre instantly gone forever?
For clarification - Does the app history restore database data. My understanding is Apps and Databases are standalone products that can be used individually or together. Does Softrās Databases have their own table and data history?
What are the Database limits? I understand their are limits for records per database, and across all databases, but wondering if there are limits for the followingā¦
Agree with you. It is incredibly short-sighted of the Softr team not to grant their oldest customers access to the inhouse database, as they will eventually discover. The legacy customers are their ā1000 true fansā and up until now were powerful brand advocates. Softr are corroding those bonds in the hope of pulling in a few extra bucks. Tools like replit and lovable , not to mention the coding capabilities of the leading AI LLMs are able to create more complex database-driven solutions from natural language every week. softr should be keeping you sweet.
