Adding custom ID's to buttons

Hi everyone,

I am looking for a way to add a custom ID to my “signup” button for tracking purposes using the google tag manager. Is there a way to do this with custom code? the general buttons are just called “button”. I’d like to add something like buttonId = “sampleid”

Perhaps using custom buttons suggested by @matthieu_chateau will help with the needed use case.
