I wasn’t able to find an answer for this.
I have an unpublished website built.
I need to add users to test a bunch of fields (using preview).
If I add users to an unpublished base, what happens? Do they get invited when I add them, or do they get invited when I hit publish?

Answered my own question! You can choose to invite now, or later.
Follow up question: what happens when I hit publish? Does it invite everyone automatically?
What if I only want to invite ~10 users to do a beta test of the platform?
Hey @veronica,
When you hit publish they will not be invited automatically, you need to invite them manually.
You can select only those users who you want to test the app. From Users tab you will need to tick the boxes for the desired emails and press on re-send invite button from Actions section.
