Softr & Stripe - adding VAT number in checkout

Hello guys, I ran into the problem with Softr+Stripe checkout. I need my customers to be able to add VAT number (if they need it in the invoice) in the checkout page. And you can’t add the VAT after the purchase since invoice isn’t editable after creation in Stripe.
VAT and custom fields can be added in Stripe Checkout Links but in that case you lose access to the automatic user subscription enrollment between Softr and Stripe. It can be done via automations - Zapier + Data Fetcher + the Stripe Checkout Links, but that’s like a long hard (and also paid - two more services) workaround.
Does anyone has any other solutions? Have someone dealt with that, especially EU Softr business owners?
Thank you!

Hello. Also extremely interested in this topic.

@hynekh did you find a way to get this sorted? I’m going crazy with it.

In my case, i would need the fiscal code (Not VAT), but it’s still a custom field that i can put in payment link on stripe, but not when i want to use the checkout block with the Softr + Stripe integration, which is needed if i want to make sure user groups work properly :frowning:

Unfortunately no, I had to abandon the project. For the new one, I think I’ll just do everything manually and switch to year subscriptions, which will be easier to manage manually in excel/google sheets. Sad that it is year later and this big problem (which I would guess is not that hard to code) is still here not fixed for EU customers (meaning the VAT, not the custom field, which still should be there as an option in my opinion).

I know of a 1 developer start-up now a couple of years in. They already implemented the option for prices with and without taxes, and defining tax rules, and are now implementing the option for users to add their VAT number during check-out. Was hoping this Stripe integration was of higher priority for Softr since this was one of their first integrations…

If someone from the team is reading this, maybe reach out to www.heartbeat.chat - they invested quite a lot of time in their Stripe integration since community monetization is their bread and butter.
