I was using the Map block on my homepage, and since I have migrated to Softr DB, it’s not supported!
I am facing horrible experiences.
Hi @baba I have brought this up with Softr numerous times here in the community and on webinars. I’ve provided use cases, so they can understand the importance and need for this. I was left with the understanding that it was something they would work on but no timing was provided. Without the ability to build dynamic maps using Softr’s DB it really limits some of the apps we are able to build on the platform - home builders, real estate agents, just to name a couple. All we can do is keep asking them. I really think Softr needs to prioritize rebuilding their old native blocks so they are current, instead of working on new features.
The first problem is not communicating proactively. When Softr invited us to migrate to Softr DB, they must have informed everyone about the limitations, providing a complete and detailed list of them.
The second problem is again related to being proactive! Now that they are aware of the missing functionalities that have drastically impacted user experience, I don’t feel they see the urgency.
When I see that the Softr team is inviting me to join the Workflow beta, that turns on an alarm!
I must be honest with the Softr team that I am considering alternatives, as I encountered severe issues like that in the past few weeks ![]()
Although I love Softr, there are still many annoying inconsistencies in the app builder and critical issues with the Softr DB, which jeopardize the no-code experience. If I were the Softr, I would reprioritize my roadmap to create a robust platform and pave the road for sustainable growth.
This is another example of what I have been saying for years. Softr has always been too busy launching new features at the expense of improving, let alone supporting existing ones. Maps is another important legacy feature that I am glad I have not switched over to Softr Databases for, expecting it will work.
We are still waiting for real time sync with Airtable (AT DSV2), since their AT connection has had performance issues from the beginning. We’ve also been waiting all year for their proposed new onboarding, since they removed additional fields from their new sign-in this year. These were Softr’s proposals to improve and fix their existing features, which have yet to be deployed and solved.
@Ben If I recall correctly, I saw a comment about the new onboarding being released on Sept 8th. Checked yesterday and didn’t see any announcements about it. Still none today. My sense is Softr have taken on too much at once - they are spread to thin.
You’re impression is accurate Toby. Its been the case since 22’ when Softr started adding additional datasources beyond Airtable and Google Sheets. This is why it took three years for conditional forms to be released, and just this year are able to change users email addresses, and authenticate emails on sign up, when these essential features were requested here in the community back in 21’.
We were actually told the new onboarding would be released 3 months ago, so we could finally use said features, and to wait for it instead of configuring workarounds:
We’re very close, guys. Just doing the best we can to ensure we’re delivering a great product for you all, and in parallel to all of the many other features we’re also working on delivering soon!
Hey @Jjenglert, in my opinion, the best is FOCUS. As a user, I feel you want to build everything altogether, while I am raising more or less every day a new issue to your customer support team.
@baba @TobyMacLeod , have you been able to connect Softr Maps blocks to Databases yet?
Nope! Still waiting.
@Ben @TobyMacLeod
I had success asking the vibe coding block to work with location data (venue addresses in Softr db) and display on a map. Maybe something to try and see if it suits your needs for now.
Softr DB should work with the new map block.
You just need to use the new Map block (marked as new as per the screenshot)
@matthieu_chateau Thanks for the heads up on the new map block. I just tested it briefly and it seems to be a great improvement. Do you know when it was launched? I didn’t see any announcements for this.
@artur, what happened to the Open Street Map block? One day it’s an option, the next it appears to be gone? We have Softr apps using this block. Will it be reinstated?
It was released at the very end of 2025 ![]()
If your apps are using this block, that block will remain. Just not an option for new map blocks… If need be, you can duplicate the old block and transfer it to a new application.
That’s too bad for builders because it was a free alternative to Google Maps. Open Street Maps was easy to integrate, configure, and display locations on maps. Dissapointing, because it actually works well with Softr
