Softr Database Structure and Limits

I’m currently building out my Softr Database structure and currently have everything in one database.

Most items in my database/tables need linked to a project ID or a client etc which I have a tables for in the database. As we are unable to link across databases this seems like the only way to do things.

I can’t see how I can get it to work having multiple databases however with the amount of tables I’ll have it is also getting difficult to navigate.

In addition to this I have also noticed a limit on records in the database is 200,000 for business plan that I am on. It won’t be long before I reach this limit if I carry on building everything in one database.

Does anyone have suggestions/guidance on how best to deal with this? Should I build in separate databases in the hope that linking across databases is rolled out soon or will I have to look into enterprise plan costs? (which doesn’t help the navigation issues with lots of tables)

Hi @sarah_h I’ve had similar questions since the launch of Softr Databases. I did bring up the ability to link across databases and I believe it something on Softr’s roadmap, although I don’t know the timing. The 200,000 record limit per database certainly raises concerns for certain types of apps. I’ve suggested that Softr make it a 1,000,000 record limit across the workspace whether those records on in one database or many. I inquired about the cost to add additional records, and was quoted an enterprise plan of over $1,800 per month, which is absolute insanity when all you need is additional records. I truly believe this is an area of concern Softr needs to address.

Hi @TobyMacLeod yes it’s something that needs considered as we’re currently using SmartSuite for some things and Softr for others by ideally want one tool (both have pros and cons and currently I’m unsure what’s best to do) - I’m building a project management tool but with that it will quickly hit the limits if I have hundreds of projects all with deliverables, actions, risks, lessons, operations etc. so I need to make sure the structure is correct for future proofing. With those sorts of costs for enterprise I’d need the tool to meet most of our requirements but there’s still a lot of features I’m waiting on too

I too was trying to transition from SmartSuite, which I think is a great product. I finally, cancelled SmartSuite and have been transitioning over to Softr. It’s a risky proposition as Softr is not as feature rich (yet). I’ve been through this too many times, juggling multiple platforms stitched together. I just got tired of it and decided to move to Softr as I like the direction they are heading. With that said, I don’t have any mission critical apps I’m transitioning. If I did, I would be hesitant to make the full leap, so I completely understand your concerns.
