Say hello to newbie

Hi everyone :raised_hands:

As someone who’s just started exploring Softr for the first time, I wanted to share a small insight from my experience that might help others.

At first, a few things that stood out to me in a positive way:

  1. The platform is incredibly user-friendly.
  2. The Airtable sync is very fast—it honestly made me say “wow.”
  3. After just a few tutorials, I felt confident enough to start building ( something not very complex )

While working on a simple employee directory app, I added basic info about each team member—including myself. Naturally, I included “My Profile” button in the app, assuming it was necessary. But after spending few hours, I kept coming back to the same question:

“Do I really need this section if I’m not planning to allow users to edit their own profiles?”

And it clicked: I could just delete the “My Profile” section. It wasn’t needed for this specific use case where the admin handles all edits. I still kept the Account Settings section for things like password and email reset. It is just in case users need access to those functions.

So here’s the takeaway:

:sparkles: Sometimes, less is more. Before adding new sections or features, it’s worth asking:
“Am I repeating the same information in multiple places unnecessarily?”

Depending on the size and complexity of your project, trimming things down can actually make your app more efficient and easier to navigate.

Just thought I’d share this. It’s a small thing, but it helped me better understand how to build with clarity and purpose.

Cheers!
