Request: Dynamic image gallery block

Hi, I am looking for a way to visually showcase the work that i do in more creative / gallery way and it needs to automatically update when i create new records. Possible to make the image gallery block dynamic.

I agree with @Tools, we need to dynamically showcase media. It would be great if you turned the Static Galleries into Dynamic Galleries. Kind of surprised this doesn’t exist yet as there are so many use cases that would support this functionality - real estate and photographers, just to name a couple.

  • 1 from me, it’s a current requirement and the existing implementation is static, i.e. not usable from a systems point of view.

@Jjenglert For your attention

Taking this a step further, it would be great to be able to use an image stored in a Softr Database as an image in a Hero Section - use it as a foreground image or a background image.

Taking things another step further, anywhere there is an option to add an image we should have the option to bind that image to a field in the database.

We definitely need better dynamic image support throughout the platform. More binding options, and better display options in terms of image sizes.

Do you have an example of another website how this would look like?

HI @Tools - Yes, every website we building using Webflow is built this way. We store all content in Content Collections (Webflow’s Database tables) and we bind this data to UI elements. For example, nearly every image in https://www.spotlighthomeandlifestyle.com is pulled from the database dynamically. The site has very few static images. Hero images (whether they are background or foreground images) are pulled from the database. Even the Hero section text is pulled from the database. Now that we have Softr Databases, there really is no reason we shouldn’t be able to bind that data to the UI elements. In my opinion, Softr should get rid of Dynamic and Static elements and just have elements that you can either bind to or not. This is one of the bigger limitations of Softr right now, when compared to other solutions such as Webflow. The pieces of the puzzle are their, Softr just needs to put them together.
