Record update softr conditional form

Obviously you can do this with fillout, but I prefer the softr conditional form formatting, so if it could be possible to update the current record (either in list details or logged in user record) - with an option to merge or overwrite existing values. If this is possible it would make my onboarding process work really smoothly!

Hi @HarwellXPS !

That sounds like a really useful enhancement! Just to understand your use case better—at what point in the onboarding process are you looking to use this form? Are you hoping to update the record right after a user signs up with their email, or is there another stage where you need this functionality?
we are working on a feature that will introduce an onboarding flow after sign-up. This will allow users to fill in additional details like First Name, Last Name, Role, and Organization during their first login. We expect this to be available in early Q2 .

Looking forward to your insights!

Hi Andranik,

Currently, I have my app configured in the new builder so that new users automatically get directed to an onboarding page after login (which cannot be navigated from until completion). There, they can select from tabs if they want to register just to attend our events (provide us with a name and they can continue), or if they want to apply for experimental time - they can open a fillout form to continue. We require organisation, and department (which are linked fields in airtable), and user status (student, academic, industrial scientist etc) which determines their user group in softr, and prefills out hidden fields in applications for experimental time.

The onboarding sounds awesome too! Will there be functionality to select linked fields or dropdown options in airtable?
Editing existing records with the conditional form would also be really helpful for our application system where both users and staff members may want to add and amend details - and I find the conditional form builder with the quick links function an absolutely fantastic way to quickly add quite complex branching pathways - especially with the conditional rules for hiding/showing different form sections!

Hi @HarwellXPS !

That setup sounds great! It’s awesome to hear how you’re using the conditional form builder to create branching pathways—it’s definitely a powerful tool for complex workflows.

Regarding the onboarding feature, we’re aiming to make it flexible and useful for various use cases. While I can’t confirm all the specifics just yet, supporting linked fields and dropdowns from Airtable is something we’re considering. I’ll share your feedback with the team to ensure it aligns with user needs.

As for editing existing records with conditional forms, that’s a great point! I can definitely see how that would enhance both the onboarding and application processes. I’ll make sure this use case is noted as well.

Thanks for sharing your insights—really valuable to hear how you’re building with Softr!

Best,
