Onboarding Workflow Error - Missing some signups

Hi team,

After Signup, I am using a Softr form and page rules to onboard my users to ensure a smooth onboarding experience. This is how I capture initial information and displaying later in user dashboard too.

But looks like NOT everyone is seeing the onboarding workflow.

I am using page rules:
After sign up → Onboarding pages.

If you can see the attached screenshot, some users see it and some don’t.
I am not able to trouble shoot this. Why it is happenign and what is the pattern.

My initial suspicion was → if a user signs up via google they are missing it.
But I cross checked, some users with google sign up are also getting it.

Can anyone help troubleshoot this?

Hi Ameer. May want to wait for Softr’s onboarding flows that are in the works right now. These form suggestions are workarounds, rather than a standardized, streamlined way to onboard different user groups.

Hmm, this one is tough. I think it’s best to contact live support so they can see what’s going on.

Also, it might be worth disabling your cache so user groups are synced in real time. But truthfully, that’s more of a “last ditch effort” as it doesn’t seem like there is a problem with your user group syncing at the moment since all users need to go to the same page post signup.

So best to contact support

Hi JJ,

I chatted with Support. We don’t have a technical way to troubleshoot and identify what is happening. They recommended to create additional user groups or use account settings page instead of an onboarding flow.

But here is something, we did figure out. In case you see the query again in future.

1st Use case:
2 users did not onboard at all. They signed up and dropped off within 2 seconds and never visited again. I figured this out from the user table in softr by looking at user created time and last seen time. (Screenshot attached)

2nd Use Case
Users signed up and immediately dropped off without completing the Onboarding within the same session. But came back later and when they signed in for the second time they were treated as log-in users (not sign up users) and that is why they did not see the onboarding form the second time and just went straight to dashboard for regular use.

So these 2 are possible scenario’s why this is happening. So Now I need to find a way to force users to complete onboarding if they have not completed it yet.

This is where the suggestion for creating a separate user groups came in.

I am on Pro plan. So limited to only creating 3 additional user groups apart from Logged in and logged out users. So can’t add more user groups for now. That’s a bummer.

But on that Note:
I am the runner up on the Make+Softr AI App building community challenge. So if I can get an annual business plan subscription in the prize that would be amazing and solve this permanently for me.

Haven’t heard anything from Softr team on this, but if you can help push this request along that would be amazing.

Hope this helps others.

Regards
Ameer

Thanks Ben,

Will lookout for the onboarding part in future.
But for now, figured out some possible reasons. No way forward yet, but atleast I know what may be happening.

Posted the explanation above. Hope it helps.

Thanks for this, and great work with the Make contest reaching 2nd place. Your submission was really excellent! I’ll DM you about your prize package =)
