We’re excited to share that Softr Workflows is available to all users. This is a major step forward for Softr. It unlocks more options whether you’re automating repetitive tasks, building AI-powered agents, or expanding Softr Interfaces to support more complex user flows.
With Workflows, actions inside your app get smarter. A button click in Interfaces can trigger a workflow you design. It runs in the background, talks to your data and external services when needed, and then routes the user to the right next step based on your logic. The result is fewer custom scripts and zaps, more control in one place, and faster builds you can trust.
Quick highlights
Trigger today from buttons in Interfaces. Form submits and other events are coming soon.
Read and write to Softr Databases and connected sources.
Call webhooks and third-party services for enrichment or notifications.
Use conditional logic to route users to approvals, onboarding steps, or custom views.
As with any major launch, we know you’ll have questions. We’re updating docs and examples quickly, and we’re here to help. Drop your questions below and we’ll jump in.
If you want hands-on help, join Softr Build Week from October 27 to November 2. We’re running daily sessions on Interfaces, Databases, and Workflows so you can learn by shipping. RSVP here: Softr Build Week
Huge thanks to our beta testers and early adopters for the feedback that got us here. We can’t wait to see what you build with Softr Workflows.
I’m trying to understand how this is meaningfully different from what’s already possible in tools like Make or Zapier — both of which are dedicated workflow platforms built specifically for automation, with mature error handling, logging, and advanced integrations.
Right now, the main advantage I see is that we wouldn’t have to leave Softr, but that benefit feels pretty minor compared to the stability, visibility, and flexibility those other tools already provide. From what I can tell, Workflows still seems early in terms of logging, debugging, and reliability — which are pretty critical if it’s meant to replace or compete with full automation platforms.
I really like the direction Softr is going, but it feels like the product focus is being stretched across too many areas right now. Why not double down on making Softr the best no-code web app platform for the AI era? You already had such a strong head start — combining databases, AI, and app-building in one place could’ve made Softr the ultimate hub for creating truly intelligent, self-updating apps. It just feels like the core vision has drifted a bit. I don’t think anyone had problems with using MAKE or Zapier the tools integrate well into softr. Just so much wasted resources on something that is already very done well.
The tools you mentioned are great tools with a huge head start. Adding workflows into our suite is much more than just offering an automation product, but also to help Softr interfaces become more powerful. Have you seen our new UI triggers using Softr workflows yet? These UI actions + Workflows make Softr interfaces 10x more flexible. And it’s just the start.
So are we 1:1 with Zapier/make/n8n, today? No. But one subscription to Softr can save you from 2+ other subscriptions, and also make our core product (interfaces) even better. We hope you are able to find the value in Softr workflows as well!
That makes sense and I do see the long-term potential if workflows can deeply integrate with Softr’s UI layer. That’s where the real power could be.
That said, I still think the differentiator will come from depth, not just consolidation. People will gladly pay especially businesses for multiple tools if each one excels in its domain — and right now Make and Zapier still set the bar for transparency, debugging, and reliability in automation.
I just think overall the focus should of been on making a more powerful interface focus on what your core tool is not making a workflow system that can be triggered off one airtable action.
Let me throw something else at you. We’ve already publicly said that our roadmap includes a lot of AI going forward.
So with that in mind, wouldn’t it be best if the AI could create full stack apps for you and share that context in each part of your app?
Having everything in one platform greatly increases what we can do with AI, and the experiences we can create for our users, start to finish. So yeah, we still have some work to do, but this is a great step forward for our product!
Excited to see where softr goes — I totally get the long-term vision, it just feels like a throughput and prioritization thing. Everything you guys do it great. But just the when.
Softr should start listening to their customers more. Softr says they are, over and over again, but I am not seeing the execution. It’s hard to be excited about new features like Workflows, AI, and the Database when essential portal functions don’t work and interface datasouce connections like Airtable have been underperforming for years.
A gentle reminder that we have more customers than just you @Ben . We listen to as much as we can, and we’re making decisions to benefit our entire use base including foundational decisions that will significantly improve the way you build apps with Softr not just today, but also years from now.
Yes, all of our support data sources will also have native workflow integrations as well, eventually. As you can imagine it’s a large haul, and we’re working our way there!
Your “gentle” response sounds dismissive and indicates you’re not considering what I said JJ. Again, which is to improve QA/QC of portal functions and interface data connections, so builders do not have to spend their time reporting issues and end-users can have a good UX. When these core features perform poorly, our app users have a poor UX, then we have a poor experience with Softr.
My intention was simply to emphasis that we are doing our best to manage the feedback from many of our users (thousands of messages we receive each month) which includes prioritizing to fix and improve the most important items first.
So we hear your messages, along with the rest of our community, and are prioritizing them as we believe to be best for all of our users.
hey @Jjenglert , the workflows look solid. These rival airtables automations which is a massive plus. Not sure if this has come up but how will overages be handled? We may end up taking all of our automations into softr from pipedream but it would be alot of automations.
