How Glitter Scaled a City Cleanup Movement with Softr

How do you turn a simple idea like “let’s clean up our block” into a city-wide movement?

That’s exactly what Glitter in Philadelphia pulled off — neighbors pledge for cleanups, local workers get paid, and entire blocks stay cleaner because the community owns the effort.

The problem was scale. Their old setup used a mix of tools, and launching each new block page took hours. Managing it all became overwhelming.

So they rebuilt the whole system on Softr.

Now they can spin up new block pages in minutes, and residents have a clean, self-serve portal where they can:

→ Track cleanings in real time

→ Manage or adjust their pledges

→ See who else is supporting their block

The results have been incredible: they’ve grown from 30 blocks cleaned to more than 350, with over 1,000 blocks now open for pledges.

If you’re into civic tech, community apps, or real-world no-code wins, this is a great example of how custom software can actually move a city forward.
