Hi All, I’m Paul based in NW England and work in the construction industry principally in marketing, but have put my no-code skills to use creating a detailed Risk Assessment app for my company (off the shelf apps don’t work how we do). I am using Airtable as my data source. I’d prefer to use native Softr data, but I use a ton of automations that Grok has helped with on the scripting, and Airtable is built like a brick for testing and executing this. I just have to accept the speed lag that comes with using Airtable. I’ve been on Softr for some months, and thought I’d join the community, as I still have really simple questions I need to ask people, such as “Why can’t I add a heading the size I want, where I want?” And why is it so hard to add non-data text where I want that too”? “And why can’t I add my own padding to the left and right”? I am hoping to unlock these mysteries. Softr’s been amazingly easy to pick up, and whilst some styling methods are frustratingly spread out, it’s nonetheless got a huge amount spot on!
Welcome to the community, @PaulS. I too am a marketer with a focus on the construction industry, in Canada. Slowly transitioning from custom Webflow websites to custom Softr apps. My primary areas of focus have been custom home builders and renovators, and plumbing and HVAC. Happy to trade insights anytime.
Thanks Toby. Yes, the company I work for is commercial building services, which is electrical, plumbing and HVAC. I’d be interested to know how you use Softr for that side of things… we have a lot of plans for implementing it into wider office tasks. One limiting factor is the online only nature of Softr, which pushes me to other solutions for things like site inspections where online access isn’t often available.
@PaulS I’m just starting to use Softr. My first project is in the Mortgage space, so I’m not 100% sure how I’m going to use it for mechanical trades yet. My use case will primarily revolve around lead capture and client management. I know there is no offline option, but if you haven’t used the PWA functionality, that can provide a bit of a better user experience in the field. If you have any industry related questions using Softr, or implement interesting solutions, please reach out. I’ll do the same. All the best.
Thanks Toby, appreciate it. As mentioned, I’ve built a complex (for me) Risk Assessment app, but I was unable to do it without Airtable. One thing I have learnt, is that the system needs to be flexible, because industry legislation changes so requirements to respond to these changes are necessary. So a major learning curve has been to create a system that’s comprehensively adaptable to unforseen changes… if someone says that a certain set of fields or options don’t have to change… interpret this as “at some point they will need to change!”. It’s this aspect that creates complexity in a highly regulated environment. But these no-code tools have been brilliant to meet the demands.
