I’ve been spending the last couple of days moving a pretty large base from Airtable into Softr database.
Here are a few things I’ve ran into and would love to see on the feature update list:
-
Please for the love of all things can we have a search on the table level? It’s such a huge waste of time trying to find a field when you have 300 fields in one table.
-
Love to be able to have the dropdown of fields be sortable. So I can change the order of things just by dragging and dropping.
-
Smart idea about creating a view of lookup/rollup fields BEFORE migrating. But I didn’t find your checklist until a day later after I had already moved things so here I am.

-
Also didn’t realize until a couple hours into troubleshooting that if you import from Airtable, all of the Record IDs need to be swapped out with Record ID from Softr so when remapping your Make automations they will actually ‘find them’.
-
Another huge gotcha has been from the app side. I have an app already built, and when swapping to the new database source it REMAPS all of the fields I had already set up. So be sure to set aside plenty of time to remap everything back to the right fields. Would love a toggle switch to allow me to chose which blocks to map or not.

I’ve just started updating the make automations and so far it hasn’t been bad. They work similar to Airtable so I have that, but could not get the ‘Make an API call’ node to work for anything. But the others have been ok. I’ll update more on this as I get further into them.
Other than a few hiccups, it’s actually pretty easy to work with.
So why the switch. I see where Softr is headed and once they get the dev and agent parts done it will be a major advantage in the market.
