Edit Record Detail with Many Fields

I have a table with 49 fields. Several more fields will likely be added to this table. Is the only way to edit a record in a popup modal with a single column where the user has to scroll down 49+ fields? That doesn’t seem right? What am I missing?

Thanks

Hi @PeterG

You can also inline edit if needed. If that’s a table block, just enable inline editing for the fields you need, and the users will be able to click and edit the particular cell on the block just on the UI level

Thank you @david_mheryan. But again, I’m not going to have a table with 49+ fields where the user has to scroll forever to get to.

Got it @PeterG , that makes sense. Here are a couple of ways to break it up:

  1. Multiple edit buttons - add several Edit Record actions, each showing only a group of related fields (e.g. “Edit contact info”, “Edit billing”, “Edit status”). Users only see what they need for that task.
  2. Detail page instead of a modal - link each record to a page with an Item Details block and enable inline editing there on the item details block. You can add several detail blocks on the same page, each covering one group of fields, so it reads like sections. Of course, not all fields are inline editable for item details blocks, so this won’t work if you have different field types.
  3. Vibe Coding block - if you want a fully custom layout like tabs or a multi-column form, you can build that with a Vibe Coding block.

Option 1 is the quickest to set up.

Thanks @david_mheryan

I figured out #1 since my first post above to you.

Wasn’t aware of #2, good to know. I see what you mean. It seems to be limited mostly to text fields.

#3 I may explore in the future.

Cheers!
