I recently built an ordering plattform using Softr and wanted to share a suggestion that, I believe, could greatly enhance the platform.
While working on the project, I realized that having dynamic images in the new form widgets would be incredibly beneficial. This feature would allow users to upload and display images that change based on the content or selection within the form, making it much easier for people to create more interactive and visually appealing online stores.
Implementing dynamic images could significantly streamline the process for those of us building e-commerce sites or similar projects, and I’m sure it would be a welcome addition for many users in the community.
Thank you for considering this suggestion. Your platform has been fantastic to work with, and I’m excited to see how it continues to evolve.
Hi @haraldpalma welcome and thanks for the suggestion!
I wonder why not using e-com specific platforms like shopify vs softr ? I’m happy to see more cases on Softr but want to learn more as we really miss many e-com features
@artur I would have used Shopify if it had been a regular store. In this case, it is a mix of a CMS and a store because I needed these features:
only registered users can order
users don’t need to pay because they have an ordering budget
ordering is only possible within a timeframe
the system needs 4 different user groups (user, admin, fanshop user, supplier)
the admin gets an overview of all orders and how much of the budget is used.
These were only a few requests, I also built a download section for ordering forms as PDFs which I create directly in Airtable. After all, I could solve everything in Airtable and Softr. I. agree, many features are missing, but the workarounds did the job for my case. Based on this experience, I would build shops with limited products and simple functionality. In some cases, this can lead to success. (One of our most successful stores was built on WordPress - without WooCommerce! - Instead, we used a form plugin with a payment function and collected six-figure number sales)
