App contains a sign up form with additional fields. A dropdown field for gender has multiple options. When the sign up form is published, the first option is shown in the dropdown. This affects dropdowns for name suffix (Jr., III, etc.), gender, race, ethnicity, and all sorts of things. I don’t want users thinking that we assume anything about them.
I can work around it by using a placeholder of a single space character, but that populates the field in Airtable with a space in optional fields. Then I have to remove the spaces with an Airtable automation.
Is there a better way?
