Color Picker w/ eyedropper tool!

Pain Point:
As a no-code developer using Softr, maintaining visual consistency across my web apps is crucial. However, the current color picker makes it challenging to match colors from different parts of the screen. Manually inputting hex codes or trying to eyeball the right shade disrupts the flow of my work and wastes valuable time.

Proposed Solution:
Integrating an eyedropper tool directly into Softr’s color picker would provide an effortless way to select any color from the screen. With just one click, I could instantly apply colors without the need for external tools or guesswork. This would streamline the design process, making color matching fast and precise.

Impact:
This feature would significantly boost productivity for the entire Softr community, enabling no-code developers to create more cohesive, polished designs quickly and efficiently. It’s a simple yet powerful enhancement that would eliminate a common friction point and make Softr even more user-friendly for visual development.

Cost/Effort:
Implementing an eyedropper tool should be a low-cost, low-effort feature for the development team. Many platforms already offer this functionality, and integrating it would not require a major overhaul—yet it would deliver a high return in terms of user satisfaction and productivity.

This would be great. Also, as a related feature, it would be nice to have color picker as a field type on forms and dynamic block field items to let Softr users create apps that themselves require a color picker.

In fact, a suggestion to the Softr team- when they develop a UX element for the Softr studio, think about whether it would make sense to have it as an element to allow Softr users to build THEIR apps also utilizing it.

For instance, Softr has toggle switch buttons, draggable buttons, tooltip popups in its Studio UI, but no such things yet to allow users to build THEIR Softr apps with these element types.

Looking forward.

@J_1 A good recommendation! I believe I’ve seen a similar feature request somewhere in the community forum regarding the color palette upgrades, including an eye-dropper and the ability to set/save custom color pallets per project. This would be very helpful.

FWIW, a workaround I use almost daily is the ColorZilla Chrome Extension, which offers an eye dropper, color picking history, CSS gradient generator, etc.
