Hi Softr team,
We’re encountering a reproducible issue where editing records via Softr (Airtable integration) causes existing image attachments in Airtable to be replaced with generic file thumbnails.
What’s happening
-
A record contains valid image attachments in Airtable
-
The record is edited via Softr (standard edit form / modal)
-
After saving:
-
The original images are no longer displayed
-
Attachments appear as generic thumbnails in Airtable
-
The underlying file appears to still exist and can sometimes be recovered, but the attachment object has clearly been altered
-
Why this is a concern
This suggests Softr is modifying attachment fields even when they are not intentionally changed, leading to:
-
Loss of proper image
-
Risk to data integrity
-
Unpredictable behaviour in downstream workflows
See below screenshot in airtable record history, the images with red borders are replaced with a dummy file
Key question
Does Softr rewrite or resend attachment field values when updating a record, even if the field is not modified in the form? Are there any known ways to prevent this?
