This is the biggest day in Softr’s history! Today, Softr becomes the first AI-native platform for building real business software.
Not prototypes. Software your team and clients can use from day one, like internal tools, client portals, partner platforms, and operational systems.
Describe what you need, and Softr’s new AI Co-Builder instantly creates the database, application, and business logic - already connected, secure, and ready for real users.
Secure and fully-functional by default. Logins, user management, permissions, hosting — built-in and working for real users from the moment you hit publish.
Switch between AI and visual editing at any time. Describe what you need, get a full app back. Then switch between AI and visual editing at any time. Need to change a button color? Just click it. No credits burned, no starting over.
Your data, workflows, and apps connected in one platform. Manage your database, automate workflows, collect with forms, and plug in your existing tools. No more switching between tools.
Many of you had early access and helped us shape this - thank you! Your feedback made it better, and we’re glad you got to see it evolve firsthand.
What’s coming next:
Support for multiple data sources
Improved cross-entity context switching across databases, apps, and workflows
Ability to add workflows into apps via Co-Builder
How you can support the launch:
We’d love your help amplifying this one. The best thing you can do is engage with Mariam’s launch post here:
Leave a genuine comment: your own take on the problem, a customer story, or why this matters to your audience
Share her post to your network with a reaction
Thank you so much for being part of the Softr community.
P.S. To celebrate, we’re giving every user 50 AI credits , automatically added to your workspace when you log in before April 30. We’re excited to hear what you think!
Agree and we also need full audit log capability so we can properly track who is changing what and when with options restore/revert when required.
Was excited to see what the new release was but disappointed that it’s more AI and not improvements to basic functionality and native blocks that we’ve been waiting months/years on.
A lot of existing Softr users have already spent a significant amount of time building existing apps and we’re waiting on key improvements. We don’t want to be building from scratch using AI which defeats the reason we started using Softr in the first place.
Sorry for the rant. Just getting frustrated with being promised things and then not being delivered
Thanks for your feedback on this (and patience). Audit logging is coming next week and backup in 2-3 weeks. We know how important this is and want to get it right.
The modal pop up offering the free gift pops up when you enter Apps… the only option is to accept the gift and do a trial subscription - which I don’t want to do. I can’t edit my apps without accepting the trial. I’d like to opt out, or just be able to close the pop up. Please fix this ASAP.
Exciting direction with AI but for those of us running entire businesses only wanting/using one app, this doesn’t solve our real problems. We dont want more Softr apps creating siloed systems, we want improved functionality within one Softr app.
We still can’t do basic things like click into charts to view underlying records, which limits real operational use.
Alot of hype around AI, but core functionality needs to catch up!
Thanks for your feedback - we are working on both, making Softr easier to use, build with, and adding more depth to the existing platform, be it the App builder, Database, or Workflows. There is no right or wrong - we have 7000+ customers and every customer has at least 10+ feature requests . We have to always find a balance and prioritize. Nothing gets neglected, or buried - software building just takes time, and our goal is to do it well, and to do it so that most of you don’t have to build things from scratch, but use/plug & play well-thought-out components and features.
Having been with us for the past years, you probably know we can tackle many problems, fast and well at the same time, so rest assured we hear you all, we know all the requests - it’s just a matter of time.
A day later and I’m still locked out of of editing apps because the launch promo modal will only permit me try out the higher paid plan (which I don’t want) and won’t permit me to opt-out .
I want to make sure I understand correctly. When the AI Co-Builder generates an app, is it assembling and configuring existing Softr blocks (lists, tables, charts, forms, etc.) rather than generating new code from scratch?
For context, I love the AI coding block. As a web developer it lets me use my existing skills to tweak things precisely. But the AI Co-Builder is different in my mind: I want to make sure that what it generates uses native human-made Softr blocks, not fully AI-generated code. My clients need to know that every block on their app is as stable and predictable as it was before Softr implemented AI, not something that needs to be reviewed or debugged after each generation.
Mariam, I am hoping you can help. For two days I’ve been unable to open the Softr Studio and because of that I can’t access the studio help and help chat. With the launch of your upgrade, the Studio login has a new popup modal offering a free 7 day upgrade promotion. The trouble is that I don’t want to take up this offer just now. There is no way to opt out of the promotion or close the offer modal - so I am locked out of Softr altogether. Can you please expedite a fix with your support people?
@Fai_Fadul that’s true, it assembles Softr’s native blocks, and if something very custom is asked that the native blocks can’t do, then it’ll create custom blocks using vibe coding block.
Sorry for the inconvenience - this should be fixed soon. The goal was to offer this as a gift, not force anyone to start a new trial they don’t want to.
Pleased to hear that While I have an existing community app where I don’t want to use AI for development, my concern was that if I accepted the trial, at the end of seven days, I won’t have used the new functions, and I may have been reverted to the current free plan, rather than the legacy free plan which supports my app.
PS: Just before you replied, I used inspect elements to remove the modal code in my browswer so I am operational again - until the next time I log in.
Hi Erin, do you have any information on how the audit logging will work? Will it track all changes to records in the database with who made the change, when the change was made, what the previous value was and what the new value it?
I’m very excited about the database backup. That does, to me, seem like priority #1 - happy to hear it’ll be available in a couple of weeks.
A comment about the AI Co-Builder: My experience of using the AI blocks to date has been mostly problematic. The experience I’ve had feels similar to the experience I have when using ChatGPT for similar type work - the AI doesn’t get it right, I request the fix, then tells me it has fixed the problem a dozen times when it really hasn’t fixed the problem.
The work-around I started doing, which has been working great, is copying the code the AI creates, pasting it in Claude and having Claude fix the code and then paste it back into the Softr block. 95% of the time it works perfectly on the first try. It ends up being far more efficient for me and I get a lot more flexibility in what I can create because Claude’s coding is very capable for this kind of application.
Hey Mariam appreciate the quick response and transparency here.
I completely understand the challenge of balancing 7000+ customers and prioritisation which is not easy.
What I’m seeing from this thread (and over time in the community) is a pretty consistent theme:
The most active users - especially those running real businesses or building serious client systems - are asking for deeper core functionality, stability, and visibility on what’s coming next.
A few key patterns coming through:
Core functionality gaps are still blocking real operational use
(e.g. charts, filtering, grouping, database relationships, exports, permissions)
AI is helpful, but it’s increasingly being used as a workaround
→ instead of improving native functionality
→ and in some cases adding cost + friction (credits, slower workflows, instability)
Stability and control are becoming more important than speed of building
→ especially for larger, production-level apps
Lack of roadmap visibility + delayed features is creating frustration
→ users are asking for things for 1–2+ years without clarity on priority or timing
Many of us are not trying to build more apps
→ we’re trying to build one system that runs our business
I think the core tension is this:
Softr is doing an incredible job at helping people build apps fast
But the next phase for many of us is needing Softr to help us run businesses reliably
Any plans to have AI follow our predefined Softr styles?
For example: I have an app that has button styles defined as round (pill shaped) Every time I create a new AI block with a button it creates a square button. I then have to use credits to make the button round. I have to do this with all predefined Softr style (regardless of how limited they are) colours, font sizes, etc. I use up a lot of credits just trying to keep my styling consistent. I suppose we could use better defined prompts, but we shouldn’t have to.
