Happy to share a marketplace that my team mate and myself built, more as a side project. We named it Cause Bridge.
I always think it’s good to give back our expertise (I mean technical expertise here) in some way or the other, even if it’s once in a while. I’ve always wanted and did a small bit contributing to open source in the past, but that’s not always an easy route tbh. That’s when I started to look for volunteering opportunities and came across Taproot Foundation and such.
Fast forward a few years, I wanted to showcase my skill in Softr as well as build something meaningful that can be used by many. Thus started to build this marketplace.
We used Airtable as the database. In terms of integration, we integrated Substack for newsletters, Calendly to book meetings, and Zapier for a few automations.
Here and there, a few screens need to be fixed. But overall it allows the following:
- One can sign up as a Non-Profit or a Volunteer
- You will be asked to fill in different details for both
- When signed up as a Non profit, you can post a requirement for which you need help with
- When signed up as a Volunteer, you can apply for postings that suit your expertise and availability.
- Conversations happen between both parties
- Volunteers can book a meeting with the Non profit if they are shortlisted.
I can go ahead and build much more, but thought of stopping it here and keep it open.
