Home page title not being picked up by Google for SEO

Strangely, Google is picking up titles for all my static pages (even plugging in what I wrote for the home page as the default), but not for the home page itself at dempsee.com. I set all of them several weeks ago.

I’m also wondering, when I use Screaming Frog to crawl my site, it doesn’t index any of my static pages; even though they are being indexed by Google. So I can’t even check to see what’s happening. Any thoughts on that one? Is there another free crawler I should try?

Hey @blockbeta

Google is actually dynamically setting title and description and noways what you set it serves as a hint but based on user search keywords it decides what to show.

Re crawl pls make sure the tool is configured to crawl JS content too

Thanks for the info. I understand Google can set what they want, but it was strange that only the home page used the name of the site.

As for Screaming Frog, to crawl JS, you need a paid plan (which I haven’t needed up until now). I found a site called Sitebulb which offers a free trial, and has a cheaper plan than Frog which doesn’t charge extra for a JS crawl. I may check that one out.
