Block refreshes after 3rd party tool API calls

Hi Community. A question came up with Softr Support that we are trying to clarify. Maybe someone here can help.

I noticed that the Form block does not list “Softr Automation” in the “Where would you like to send responses?” field. I was hoping to test the Softr Automation as a way of causing the wait of the app page refresh until my webhook would complete. So, the idea was to hook up the Form block to Softr Automation, which would in turn call out the external webhook and, hopefully, not return/refresh the app screen until the webhook’s external automation completes, signals back the Softr automation, which would in turn signal back to Softr to refresh the page.

Softr support suggested to just point my Softr form block directly to the external webhook. But that, to my knowledge, has always been the problem. Softr is “blind” to the responses/completions of the external webhooks, causing the the block’s data not to refresh after the external webhook’s process completes.

So, is Softr planning to offer Softr Automations to send Form block’s input to and can we expect the app page’s refresh to benefit from Softr Automation’s wait for end-of-process signals for external API calls?

Thanks

Hey everyone,

I wanted to share some updates on the above questions regarding legacy customers’ plan limits for Workflows and Databases products.

TLDR: Legacy customers get full access to the Softr Databases/Workflows/AI products.

We have always valued our loyal customers who joined Softr early and have continued to grow with us over the past years. We have always appreciated and listened to your feedback and feature requests, and we have tried to balance our ambitious roadmap with day-to-day improvements and existing feature enhancements.

Our vision has always been to make software building accessible and easy for anyone, and to be the best platform for creating business software. This means that while we have heavily focused on app building and data source enhancements, expanding from interface building to full-stack capabilities in Softr is equally crucial to achieving our long-term vision. 70%+ of new users who signed up with a business use case in mind couldn’t leverage Softr because they didn’t have an external, structured database or couldn’t build one with Softr. Now, with full-stack capabilities, we can fully serve those customers too.

Softr has evolved tremendously over the past year, introducing two new products that let anyone build their custom software solely within Softr. The value the platform offers currently is not comparable to what it was a year or two ago.

Most of our existing early customers came to Softr to build frontend interfaces on top of 3rd-party data sources—and while the app-building capabilities have continued to improve, we’ve never restricted features for customers on legacy plans.

As Softr Databases and Workflows are new products, we initially limited them to new plans, since most legacy customers already have dedicated data sources and automation tools. However, over time, we learned that many of you want to move to Softr Databases & Workflows, and we’re definitely happy to make it easier.

So we have decided to match the plan features and extend the usage limits for Softr Databases, Workflows, and AI credits on legacy plans to the corresponding limits in the new plans. This change will also include the ability to buy additional AI Credits to make your apps smarter and more powerful with AI.

Example:

An old Professional plan will have these adjustments:

  • Workflows: 500/month action executions → 10,000/month action executions

  • No access to the Workflow Webhook & API actions → has access to those

  • Databases: 1000 records per database → 50,000 records per database

  • AI credits: 500/month → 5000/month + can buy an add-on

These changes will be rolled out in the next 2 weeks.

@mariam, thanks for the update. For clarification, will the rest of our legacy plan features and limits remain how they were?

Thank you @Mariam

I can see the effort Softr is making to balance the expectations of legacy users with the company’s new goals and long-term vision. We all hope that these powerful capabilities will be used responsibly and with trust.

Wishing you all the best.

God bless you.

Yes, they will Ben.

Thank you team Softr for now allowing legacy plans to utilize the Webhook and API calls in Softr Workflows. Looking forward to the feature adoption.

So happy the team made this available @bbelo

Hope you enjoy it! So many awesome use cases with Softr workflows now.
